Graffiti

Tagging is an issue that we don't have to deal with as much as in the cities; however, we do see tagging occurring in our communities from time to time.

Graffiti (tagging) is a crime. It is an act of vandalism.

For graffiti (and any vandalism) damage to Council property please call us on 07 868 0200 us or send us an email and we'll remove it or repair it.

Although it is disheartening to see graffiti and tagging on private property, you can do something about it.

Our Council and police want to encourage people to call the police on 111 when you see a crime being committed.  You will need to leave your details (name, address and date of birth) which will enable the police to validate the complainant and help catch offenders and eradicate graffiti and tagging.

To complain anomalously you can phone NZ Crime Stoppers 0800 555 111 - you will find the number on the Police website www.police.govt.nz/contact-us/how-report-crime

If you own or operate a commercial building, graffiti and tagging are damaging to your reputation and need to be eradicated as soon as possible - here are helpful hints from NZ Police about looking after your property.  https://forms.police.govt.nz/forms/commercial-premises-security-audit

For Council Public Property you can contact our Customer Services and report an RFS for graffiti and tagging on public toilets, buildings, parks and reserves. Phone 07 868 0200 or e-mail: customer.services@tcdc.govt.nz

To send a strong message to the offenders that graffiti and tagging is a crime against property, the best way to diminish it is to take a picture of it, report it, and then clean it off.

Download the guidelines on how to clean off graffiti and tagging from different surfaces on the top right-hand side of this page.

We love our environment, the best way to encourage care is showing that our private and public places showcase the Coromandel as the most desirable area of NZ in which to live, work and visit.
